Glamour Files: Olga Rocks with the Band Fannypack

Fannypack is two very handsome guys and three real girls from Brooklyn, New York who make ultra fun songs that you can dance to. Their sound is a mega-fresh marriage of electronic booty bass hip hop flavor and dance hall, dance floor , club music sensibilities. Raised on rap, the Fannypack girls kick a little old school boom bap over modern and future forward electronic booty funk tracks.Fannypack never fails to cold rock the party with their feel good, get up and do it songs.

I can’t help but wonder where this modeling world will take me next?  I was checking for modeling gigs, when I saw an ad that wanted plus size women, in their 30’s to grace an album cover for a band that was with Tommy Boy Records.  It’s funny also that the deadline had been up and I was four days too late.  I figured “what the heck”, which is something I do quite often.  It was around 10:30 at night, tired from working all day and dealing with a full house; I should have been in bed.  I sent an email and I got a response within minutes.  It was from Matt Gois, the leader and DJ of the group Fannypack.  He told me that he liked my look and that it was not too late.  That night we chatted on line and made future plans to meet up.  I got a really good vibe from Matt.  That week was also the week of their big concert with KTU.  They had two shows, one in NYC and the other in the PNC Arts Center in NJ.  I was surprised and honored when Matt invited me to go and be his special guest at the concert.  He arranged for the tickets to be ready for me at the center.  His car was at the shop and he was trying to find a way for me to attend the concert.  He even discussed the limo that he and the band were sharing.  Unfortunately, I had a fashion show  and it wasn’t possible for me to meet up with them at that time, but what an exciting honor!
 
        For three weeks we talked on the phone and it finally hit me who this band was.  They were that new hot band that was singing that funny and hip song, ‘Cameltoe‘.  All this time I was dealing with one of NYC’s hottest new bands.  Go figure!
 
        After several weeks of missing each other and voice messages, I caught up with them at the Knitting Factory in New York City.  Finally after a last minute change of plans I was able to meet them.  I went with two of my best pals Edwinta (another plus model) and Claudene (proud big girl) . The minute I got to the block, I saw the crowd.  I thought there is no way that I will be able to meet up with Matt and introduce myself.  There were four white stretch limo’s and about ten camera men and tight security.  I got in and went right to the window.  I asked the girl in a nice way if Matt had arrived, and that he was waiting for me, a plus size model working on a project with him.  I am sure she has heard just about every and any excuse from frantic fans.  So I just said “thanks”,  and that if she saw him to tell him that Olga was looking for him.  The girls and I found a nice quiet spot near the stage.  I was not too sure what he looked like, since I had only seen him in pictures.  Towards the stage I saw a handsome looking white boy with a short haircut and baggy pants and t-shirt.  I noticed how the crowd was touching him and patting his back and trying to get his attention.  He was headed my way and I said, “Hi” and he said hi back and kept walking, and then in a split second he turned around and asked, 

“Olga?”.  I smiled and I said, “Hi Matt”.  He came over hugged me and said, “Girl you made it!”   Minutes later the concert began.  What a great time!  The crowd was fantastic and very friendly.  We noticed that there was a wide range of different ages in the house, rocking and dancing.

   I also met Fancy (the other guy in the band).  He is tall, and wears this cute leather beret, with glasses and sexy short, shorts!  He was so funny and a real ladies man.  The girls were going crazy over him. He is a big flirt; he just can’t help himself.  When the fans go near him, he always makes time to reach out for their hands, hug them and throw kisses.  That night he was also giving out free Fannypack t-shirts and copies of the latest CD.

  I was so excited about meeting them!  Now,  I am so looking forward to working with them.  Whether it’s going to be  an album cover or  in one of their videos,  I will leave that as a surprise for you!

In the past few weeks I have gotten to know Matt on a different level.  He is such a hard worker, he truly loves music and defends what he believes in.  The bond he has with the other band members - Fancy, Jessibel, Cat, and Belinda is priceless. It is not all about the media, hotels, traveling and the fame.  It’s about staying on top of the game and doing what he loves best, music!  Matt will always stop and sign his autograph and he is ready with a big smile for any fan that comes his way.  I am living proof of that. 

That night I also mixed with some other artists and celebrities.  Among them was his great pal, Moby.  Moby was nice, sweet and quiet. 

 Fannypack has been very busy traveling the world. In the last few months they have been touring Louisiana, Florida, Amsterdam, London, LA, Vegas, Europe, Germany, and more.  They have been featured in Rolling Stone magazine; they are a big hit on the MTV website; they just flew to LA to record an episode on the Sharon Osbourne show.  Plus they perform in hot places like the Hard Rock Cafe in Vegas. Matt  told me that touring is not as easy as most think.  He gets home sick and wants to rush right home and step foot in his crazy town of NYC!

  Now all this talk about Matt and Fancy and I haven’t even mention the beauties from the group.  They are lovely, flirty, and fun.  They smile a lot and you can tell they just can’t help themselves.  They are adored by all the guys screaming out their names.  And they complete this dynamic band!  Remember the name, Fannypack, because they are going places and we  just love them!       To all of my Curvy sisters please go and check them out at their website.  Matt Gois and FannyPack are one of the rare artists that can see and respect the beauty of a plus size woman, enough to let her shine on their up and coming music projects.  Besides, who can resist “Cameltoe’?
