Season Three is almost here………..
By Guest Contributor to Elegant Plus Magazine
Paris has always been fabulous. It’s about to get Fabulous and Thick.
Mo’Nique and Oxygen are taking their hit show to a worldwide stage! They’ll continue the Miss F.A.T. tradition by taking on the world capital of couture– Paris, France. It all begins with a nationwide search for 5 big beautiful contestants willing to take on the challenge of their lives. We’ll follow their journey as they transform into divas ultimately strutting their stuff in a high fashion Paris runway show.
At the end of the night, the judges and Mo’Nique will evaluate the contestants on their entire journey and the winner will be named Miss F.A.T. 2007!
Judges this season include ground-breaking plus-size model Velvet d’Amour whose ample curves have graced the Paris runways in haute couture fashion!
Tune in to the Oxygen Network on July 28th, 2007 at 8pm/7C and let the fun begin!

It’s pretty bad when they make shows that advocate obesity. The last time I checked being overweight is an unhealthy lifestyle. Yet they still encourage it? I think overweight people should be more concentrated on losing weight rather than saying how “beautiful” they think they look. I mean sure, some people might find overweight women attractive. But I don’t see how anyone can be happy about being fat. Go to a doctor and ask if being overweight is healthy, then see if you want to support something so ignorant.

Wow!!! I can’t wait to see it happen here in Orlando. Thanks for inspiring so many women who do not have have enought selfesteem to say WE ARE BEAUTIFUL!!. People might think FAT is ugly, but let me say I am curvy, but My beauty and every womans beauty is all in how confident we feel about ourself. I have my beauty inside and my curvy one out. I always wanted to be a model. I did when I was in H.S.,however monetary was a big one at the time and sure you had to be skinny bone and have someone in the business to get you in. I always thought they should always be with the real and honest way of having the actual ability. I do beleive in me and I will be waiting for this opportunity. I am 38 year old. but a lot a people say I look great to be my age. I’m Latina and thats what I want to Represent if there none, the first Latina American (Puerto Rico) to be The most Proud Curvy Model.
Thank you.

Two Items:
1) To the spectacular women who braved and bared the soul and body of many larger than life women on the show- A thousand thank yous to you for allowing the rest of usa to enjoy vicariously the wonderful response to your sharing your soul and body on T.V. It is so rare to find such a level of comfort and acceptance amongst ourselves as women and as sensual larger than life chicks. And you did it with such style and class. Thank you.
2) To those who feel this is an endrsement of obesity: If you can possible get beyond your own possibly low self esteem issues and look honestly at the premise of the show, you’ll see that this is not a matter of endorsement of unhealthy habits or addictions. It is , however, an endorsemtn of healthy emotional response to a positive attribute that is viewed so differently in societal eyes. In other words, please take the log out from your own eye before you point out the problems in someone else’s sights. Thank you.

It was soooo nice to see a white girl win. The last two years I really felt this wasn’t about being plus-size and more about accepting non-traditional kinds of beauty — ie ethnic women. Which is good too, but be up front about it if that was what it was about. If anything fat white chicks are the most discriminated against in the world. Its culturally more acceptable to be heavy (eg Queen Latifah) in Hollywood if you aren’t white and therefore in other parts of our culture too. Thanks Mo’Nique for truly opening your message up to ALL plus-size women!

Vanessa @ 4:57 am:
What do you mean? White girls don’t get no disrespect! Mo’Nique is doing wonderful things showing all kinds of beauty.
