I tried the white vinegar soak and it did NOT work on my jeans. I have used it with every wash and the smell is still there.
It really is sad that these jeans have such a terrible odor. They fit wonderfully and I would make these my standard jean, but not with this odor problem. If Lane Bryant can fix that I will be a loyal customer.

I just bought a pair of boots at macy's (Scurry Black, size 9.5, 18" calf) and they fit snug at the calves, but are a bit loose in the ankle. How loose are snug fitting boots supposed to be in the ankle. I have great mobility in the ankle, but they look a little baggy. Anyone know of any websites that show a real women wearing boots so I can compare the images?

WHITE VINGEGAR GETS THE SMELL OUT. I found this suggestion on another forum somewhere and I tried it. It worked! Put one cup of white vinegar in with the soap when you launder the jeans. I used one cup for three pairs of jeans and it took 99% of the smell out (it's very, very faint now in only one pair). It might work even better to use one cup of white vinegar for each pair of jeans that you're washing.

I've never owned a pair of jeans this dark before. I ended up here from doing a Google search on "dark wash jeans smell" hoping this might be some normal thing that would wear off the jeans after a few washes. I'm really annoyed to learn it's an error on Lane Bryant's part AND no one seems to have had any success removing the odor.

I'm a size eight, red, petite and I love the fit of the jeans. I also love the color. I can even wear them to work because they look professional with a nice top and a blazer. They were about 6 inches too long, even after the first wash (I'm 5'2"), so I paid 11.00 to have my dry cleaner hem them.

I can't stand the smell though! Now it looks like I'm not only out the money for the jeans, but the tailor's fee too. I will definitely be complaining to Lane Bryant about this. I probably will buy another pair because they fit so well, but only in person so I can make sure they have no smell in the store first. I did buy mine in the store and noticed the smell then, but I thought they just needed to be washed. Grrr.

After reading other people's comments on here, I am glad to know that I'm not crazy about my jeans having a strong, nasty chemical odor that spreads to whatever they are washed with, worn with or hanging next to. What the heck is causing it? Makes you wonder if it's of any risk to us to wear them. I haven't experienced any rashes or anything like that, but the smell is awful. I'll probably never buy these jeans again which is a shame because they fit me great.

I understand how some people can be frustraited with this change. After reading the comments though, I must agree with the person who stated that "old navy's sizes are over lapping". In store, the sizes go up to XXL in tops, and a size 20 in bottoms. Can everyone fit the largest sizes available in store? No... but overweight Americans are an even bigger problem then those with an eating disorder. With that statistic in mind, one would think that the plus size line would still be in store since there're so many overweight people. But the line wasn't making sales. Perhaps overweight individuals don't want to be seen in public???? It's retail...it's the economy...companies have to do what that have to do. So stop bitching and atleast drop to a healthy size 16. Your heart will love you for it.

Does anyone know where you can find wide width shoes WITH a heel? I keep reading about people not wanting the heel. I like wearing heels, but I am looking for a lace up boot. I can find all the ones with stretch shafts, but nothing wide width lace up.

I have been a bigger size, and I will tell you what the big deal is. First of all, the different treatment and trying to pretend like there are no plus sizes, when clearly 50% of us girls, women areeee plus sized per those standards. That is simply a fact, I used to be very skinny before I came here but with this lifestyle here, speed, driving cars etc, no time for anything, and the food just not good even when it says organic, water full of meds, it is almost impossible to be skinny unless you are anorexic. I used to very very skinny IN EUROPE, no problem, could eat what I want, but the lifestyle there is so different, the food, the water and stress is sooooo much less.. it is just not like that here. Now if I starved yes maybe only maybe than I would lose a few pounds. Big difference. And I DONT USE CATALOGS, I NEVER WOULD. Ridiculous, if anyone NEEDS TO TRY ON CLOTHES, IT IS THE PLUS SIZES. When you are stick skinnt almost everything fits because you are like a hanger. I know from experience. I've been both. But when you are plus sized, you gota make sure it fits your SHAPE. You can't do that unless you try it, that is silly. Well, I am sad to hear that they are trying to pretend half of the nation doesn't exist.
